Anyone that’s ever smoked flower knows that the first step after admiring your fresh new bud you got from our same day weed delivery service, is to get it ready to smoke! But what’s the best way to do that? There are many ways to grind up your weed, so let’s take a look at what is statistically the best way to do so…
Why grind at all?
This is certainly a valid question, especially since I’m sure we all have memories as teens picking apart our nugs because we didn’t have a grinder on deck. Seemed to work out just fine back then! However, it’s been scientifically proven that the density and size of your grind matters a lot to the overall smoking experience. If your flower is too fine, like powder, then the structure of the plant is completely destroyed. On the other end, a grind that is too lumpy and course will guarantee that you’re not unlocking the full power of your bud, and it could even lose most of its potency when being vaped due to combustion issues.
So what is the perfect grind?
The perfect grind is quite easy to describe, and basically as easy to get when you have the right tools! According to this article, “the perfect grind for your herbs is something that is small enough to spread or burn evenly, but not so fine that the structure of the herb is completely destroyed. Something that is ground into a powder will not allow for a good burn, and may be overpowering in its effects in vaporizers, rolled paper or bowls. Consistency is critical in whatever you are grinding: all the pieces of the grind should be about the same size.”
A good way to measure this by eye is to think of seasoning you buy at the store, or even tea. That’s the size you want your ground weed!
